"It will all come out in the wash."..Homemade Laundry Fabric Softener

Today is Monday. I hate Mondays period. In fact I refuse to even attempt to be happy. So what do I do on Mondays? Nothing. I'm kidding. I welcome each and every day as if it's my last!!

Onto laundry yet again, it is an endless cycle and I sure wish my checkbook would refill just as quickly as the laundry basket does.. however the cute outfit I wanted to wear today is in the laundry.

I'm not a huge fan of fabric softener and pretty much avoid using it, but some days I just want to smell like a bouquet of flowers when I put my clothes on. I guess I could use perfume which is another subject on its own.. another time.

This recipe is simple and basic. Thank you to http://everydayroots.com/homemade-fabric-softener I used what I had in my laundry room. I used the NOW orange essential oil and wanted to add cinnamon and clove but then realized I didn't want to walk around smelling like I had a car  air freshener hanging around my neck. Everyday Roots recipe uses 2 cups of epsom salt, 1/2 cup of baking soda and 30-60 drops of essential oils. Tada!!  You have to read their blog explaining how baking soda brightens the clothes and neutralizes the acid in stains. Yes!! No more dingy laundry!!

As Brian Wallace says:

"There's no way to really ration dirty laundry. It's there every week, and it has to be done. It's not like you can stockpile your laundry and wait for prices to come down."

I'm tired of all this nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. That's deep enough. What do you want, an adorable pancreas?

What a way to start the weekend with no body lotion or a body scrub! What's a girl to do?? Why make some of course! Let's get started...

I've used different recipes over the years and the one thing that comes to mind is K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. This recipe seemed easy to make and the batch is small enough that if I didn't like it I wouldn't feel horribly about not using it. I tweaked this recipe and added lanolin. You ask why lanolin and isn't lanolin basically sheep sweat? I've seen worse in commercial products so I'm cool with it.

My skin has not seen the light of day in 3 years living in Utah and this Texas weather is wrecking havoc to my once, glittery porcelain skin, I'm kidding I was just basically pale for a Latina. I normally used body butters living in Utah but I needed something that was light on my skin with the exception I needed something that would really moisturize so I thought why not?  Ah the sheep sweat freaking ya out?? If that freaks you out you should read the chemicals used in your lotion I promise sheep sweat will be a welcoming addition, I mean come on I know your momma did that whole licks her hand to smooth down your cowlicks!! Admit it!!

http://realizebeauty.wordpress.com/2009/06/03/what-is-lanolin-and-is-it-really-a-wonder-moisturiser/

In this recipe I used the LouAna Coconut oil because this is what I had left, when I make products for customers I only use organic products to ensure one they are getting what they are paying for and since its for me I want to experiment the different products out here and well basically I'm my own human guinea pig. I did a quick search about the type of coconut oil to purchase and I recommend unrefined coconut oil. I buy most of my products online through amazon unless I can get it directly from a company with better shipping rates. Darn you fuel charges!! *raises fist* also I substituted my almond oil with sunflower oil. Again my preference for myself not my customers.

I did not add mineral water because I was NOT being lazy I was just being energy conservative, fine I'm lazy I didn't want to open a bottle. *huge smirk*.

In this recipe it suggested lavender + ylang ylang essential oil. I used doTerra's Citrus Bliss E.O., I wanted to smell like an orange.

Now onto some yummy coffee + sugar body scrub... Keeping it Cleverly Simple!!

Cellulite Schmellulite.. Cellulite is basically just your body's way of saying you're sexy...in braille.

Ahhhhh it is that time of the year here in Texas where shorts are basically worn 364 days a year[[attempt at humor]]. I stored all my Utah winter clothes the moment I hit the Texas state line, so with that said I have not worn shorts in appx. 3 years.. yes you read that right.. 3 years.. hey 100 degrees in Utah is equivalent to Texas' 30 degrees. IMJS...needless to say I probably "glitter" in the sunlight...

I am in the middle of making whipped body butter and decided I better work on my cellulite.. uggghh the dreaded ugly word. C-E-L-L-U-L-I-T-E!!!! blah.. luckily I will be using my daughter in law Vivi as my human guinea pig... I hope she likes me after this...*crosses fingers*..{pointing to photo that is not me or my daughter in law so the poor sap who was not too bright to post this on the internet highway, I'm sorry}http://www.oil-testimonials.com/essential-oils/5486/my-recipes-for-cellulite-and-varicose-veins

I will be posting before + after photos, the guides/instructions/google I have read state it takes up to 6 weeks for improvement why oh why can  I not just have a quick fix?? With everything else it takes time and patience and WORK.. so get your butt outside go EKERCISE..yes EKERcise..eat raw healthy foods and drink your H20!! Do not slack on the water intake, I use the waterlogger app on my phone..

Until next time, Ciao

I simply forgot that I had my new blog! Busy.Busy.Busy. You know how it goes, life it just gets from you and then bam here you are on a Sunday evening wishing Monday would not come. That's me. I posted a laundry blog on my facebook.com/CleverlyClean. I only make this for my brother in law, the fella is picky [pssst OCD] about his detergent so in lieu of my lounging around in my own pajamas on my day off I made his detergent. Check the blog out and follow those links they are some amazing websites to use for recipes. As for me and my laundry we are done! http://www.stonegableblog.com/2012/04/stonegable-laundry-soap.html Here are my photos of the detergent I made today.
